Is it just me, or when you think of colored tights does your brain also automatically conjure up old images of Blair Waldorf? Maybe it’s the millennial in me, but the correlation between eye popping tights and Gossip Girl is deeply ingrained in my mind.

Because of this, when the HUGE red tights trend started popping up right and left on my Instagram feed, I was quite hesitant to jump on it. At some point after college, I threw out my hot pink tights and never looked back. And while I know fashion is cyclical, it felt a little too soon for a resurgence. Eventually, I did give into temptation and bought a pair of vibrant red tights. Then when the trend shifted to burgundy tights soon after, I got a pair of those too.
While I thought this would be the end of the return of colored tights, it appears I couldn’t have been more wrong. Next thing I knew, Leandra Medine Cohen (Blogger and founder of the now defunct Man Repeller) posted a carousel of photos featuring herself styling many different pairs of brightly colored tights.

“Maybe this is a one off.” I said to myself, as Leandra is known for her wonderfully bizarre sense of style. However, that thought quickly disappeared while watching the Miu Miu Fall 2024 Ready-to-Wear collection. Miuccia Prada sent models charging down the runway in an assortment of the most deliciously colored tights.

Miuccia Prada’s take on the style certainly gave me a different outlook. The hues, the color blocking and the chic garments the tights are paired with gave them a more elevated appearance than I was expecting. What about you? Will you be styling colored tights or keeping it simple in classic black?
Cheers,
Jordin
